Statement of Support from UMA for Nuclear Peace Talk with Iran

April 4, 2015

President Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave., NW
Washington, DC 20500

Mr. President, today is the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination on April 4, 1968. Remembering his words from his “Beyond Vietnam” speech and his caution against “power without compassion, might without morality, and strength without sight,” we, the following organization, commend you for choosing the diplomatic path to peace with Islamic Republic of Iran.

Together with this wise and courageous move, your honorable and just stand to protect Palestinians’ rights, and your numerous directives to care for this country’s marginalized and poor people guarantee you and the Americans of the same grassroots-level support that brought you to the Oval Office.

Sincerely,
Syed Rifat Mahmood
President
United Muslims of America
